CUSTOM GARDENS
We can design a garden specifically tailored to your child’s interests and to your needs, desires, current site conditions and budget. Our specialty is creating gardens that are aesthetically pleasing to adults while being functional and fun for children. We’ve developed six garden themes as possible starting points but we love to get creative ... we recently installed a Balinese themed garden in San Francisco that included a “beach” and a “jungle” for four young children and in Stinson Beach we designed a garden that included a surf-shack playhouse and an old rowing boat dug into the sand for toy storage. We like to enclose our gardens with a fence and gate, (to give children privacy and a sense of place), and include such elements as an automatic irrigation system, planting areas, a playhouse, personalized mailbox, water features and other garden and play structures.
The Process
After our design services are engaged, we schedule an initial interview to determine what theme and elements you would like to include in your child’s garden. We then prepare a concept drawing, scope of work and budget for your approval. After the garden is installed, we are happy to continue working with your child on a regular basis to maintain the garden. We have several maintenance options, as well as gardening classes, available. (See Maintenance & Classes)
